Since its debut in 2008, the World Future Energy Summit has become the largest leading renewable energy exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa region. This year, the exhibition is expected to reach over 40,000 square meters of space, attracting over 650 exhibitors from more than 100 countries to show their latest technologies.

In November 2015, Sheikha Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the chief of the UAE, unveiled the Clean Energy Strategy 2050. According to the strategy, by 2050, the clean energy supply in Dubai must be rated at 75% and the emirate will be built asthe global center for clean energy and a green economy.
